Zen Center Turns 50: A Ceremonial Celebration

We will gather at Sokoji, in Japantown, to honor the birthplace of SFZC, and continue with a procession down Laguna Street to City Center at 300 Page Street for a ceremony commemorating Zen Center’s official incorporation by the State of California, followed by words of appreciation and a reception in the dining room.


  • 10:00 am  Assemble at the Corner of Laguna & Sutter Streets
    10:30 am  Ceremony at Sokoji Temple
    10:45 am  Celebratory Procession from Sokoji to SFZC 
  • 11:30 am  Ceremony in Buddha Hall
    12:00 pm  Inauguration of the Peace Bell in the Courtyard 
  • 12:15 pm  Honorary Guest Speakers in the Dining Room
    12:45 pm  Reception catered by Greens Restaurant

NOTE: For those attending in person, shuttle vans will be running from 300 Page Street to Sokoji beginning at 9am. Please arrive no later than 9:30am. There is public parking nearby at the Performing Arts garage on Grove.
